![]() ![]() What they’ve done with the space is lovely. Rather, we just didn’t want any out-of-date information on the blog, and I”m too lazy to write a second review. I have no problem with cafeteria-style food when it tastes good (which it always has here). Not that the previous iteration of the cafe wouldn’t have scored well. He said: I’d been to ODB a few times before their rennovation – even during the time that we had started this blog – but we decided to hold off on the review. Thank you, ODBB, you have successfully upped the bar in Blacksburg. ![]() That’s pretty good considering the variety and quality of food offered. For an appetizer, two entrees, one dessert, and two glasses of sangria we totaled a little over $60 before the tip. Sure, we won’t be coming here every night, but when we’re willing to spend a tad more on food, we’ll be back. Cooked properly, lovely flavors, and beautiful presentation. Nothing jumped out at my as a ‘holy-shit-this-is-the-most-amazing-thing-ever’, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The duck was cooked well and the accompanying sauce was delightful. It was a nice amount of food, possibly even a tad more than I needed. Rabbit was also on the menu but I’d tried that for lunch (and it was fantastic). The fact that they even have duck makes me extremely happy. Being the huge snob that I am, I wasn’t as fond of this particular kind of pate, but the cheese and fresh bread were nice. We started with a pate and cheese plate ( Rilletes, Pate, Bleu de Auvergne, Basque, and Brie Cheeses). You can always rely on ODBB for something tasty with the possibility of healthy. Crab cakes are a regular, plus there’s been massive quiches, rotating soups, and typical French lunch fare. They have an excellent selection of sandwichy things, but I tend to go for whatever their entree specials are. I’ve been coming here for lunch on and off for months. It more than makes up for the stripmall-ugly on the outside. That being said, they’ve taken pains to rehab the interior of their previously cafeteria-esque space into a lovely litte cafe. Our Daily Bread and Bakery is a small joint situated in one of Blacksburg’s uglier strip malls. That’s generally what pops in my mind when coming into contact with French food – thank you Little Mermaid. Vino: They’ve got it and you can bring your own! (corking fee) A newly refurbished bakery specializing in fantastic French cuisine at a fair price. ![]()
